In the distant future, humanity can evolve sexuality into a new form, with even the possibility of reproduction being metamorphosed. Refreshingly, Steiner is not judgmental and does not preach asceticism. He recognises the ‘all-too-human’ frailty people confront in their personal lives, even in the case of great individuals such as Goethe. Sex is a necessary stage of human evolution, and the split nature of the human being is a fact of our age. Its healing will be gradual but, like Amfortas in the Grail story - whose wounded groin was a metaphor for amorous misadventure - we can all be healed through love and compassion

About the Author
Rudolf Steiner (1861–1925) was born in the small village of Kraljevec, Austro-Hungarian Empire (now in Croatia), where he grew up. As a young man, he lived in Weimar and Berlin, where he became a well-published scientific, literary, and philosophical scholar, known especially for his work with Goethe’s scientific writings. At the beginning of the twentieth century, he began to develop his early philosophical principles into an approach to systematic research into psychological and spiritual phenomena. Formally beginning his spiritual teaching career under the auspices of the Theosophical Society, Steiner came to use the term Anthroposophy (and spiritual science) for his philosophy, spiritual research, and findings. The influence of Steiner’s multifaceted genius has led to innovative and holistic approaches in medicine, various therapies, philosophy, religious renewal, Waldorf education, education for special needs, threefold economics, biodynamic agriculture, Goethean science, architecture, and the arts of drama, speech, and eurythmy. In 1924, Rudolf Steiner founded the General Anthroposophical Society, which today has branches throughout the world. He died in Dornach, Switzerland.

An excellent discussion of issues related to technology and its effect on culture. I found myself underlining things and writing in the margins. She is at her best when framing philosophical issues and making generalizations about the future of art and technology, a little weaker when addressing actual artists and their work. She uses Platonic and Aristotelian philosophy to explain two ways artists approach technology and yet the book is refreshingly free of tech or art jargon. A great companion book would be Charles Acland's Residual Media.Residual Media

Run To The Hills is probably the best place to start if you want to learn more about the career of Iron Maiden. This looks at their formation, rise to fame, the various line-ups, albums, concerts, band disputes and other general information about this classic group. You also get a good selection of photographs. Mick Wall is a respected rock journalist and this book is no exception, great story, well told. Make sure you track down the latest edition of this book as i've seen at least three versions now and it'll be worth getting the most up-to-date one if you can. A great history of one of Britain's most influential metal groups. Well worth a read.

First of all, let me say that the author is amazing. I've seen her in person and she is so knowledgeable. This is a book that I purchased as an undergrad and have since misplaced or borrowed to someone. Since this book is no longer in print, I was happy to find a used copy.
